Reverse BMI Calculator
The reverse BMI calculator calculates your target or ideal weight based on your height and selected Body Mass Index (BMI). This calculator works in reverse to determine the weight you need to achieve a given BMI, unlike a regular BMI calculator, which uses your current height and weight to calculate your BMI. It is useful for people planning weight loss, weight gain or maintenance of a healthy weight.
The reverse BMI calculator employs the same formula created by Adolphe Quetelet; however, it determines weight or height instead of BMI. Commonly used BMI ranges such as 18.5 – 24.9 are generally used to identify a healthy weight range. This is why this tool can help you set simple and realistic weight goals. However, it should be used as a general guide only, as it does not measure muscle mass, body fat, or individual health conditions.
How to use?
People enter their height in inches or centimeters, choose a desired BMI value, and the tool calculates the weight needed to reach that BMI.
| Height | Male Weight Range (kg) | Male(lb) | Female Weight Range (kg) | Female (lb) |
| 150 cm | 43 – 56 kg | 95 – 123 lb | 41 – 54 kg | 90 – 119 lb |

| 160 cm | 49 – 64 kg | 108 – 141 lb | 47 – 62 kg | 104 – 137 lb |
| 165 cm | 52 – 68 kg | 115 – 150 lb | 50 – 66 kg | 110 – 145 lb |
| 170 cm | 55 – 72 kg | 121 – 159 lb | 53 – 70 kg | 117 – 154 lb |
| 175 cm | 59 – 76 kg | 128 – 168 lb | 56 – 74 kg | 123 – 163 lb |
| 180 cm | 62– 80 kg | 137 – 178 lb | 60 – 79 kg | 132 – 174 lb |

| 190 cm | 69 – 88 kg | 152 – 198 lb | 63 – 83 kg | 147 – 194 lb |

Reverse BMI Formula
Weight (kg) = BMI×(Height (m))2 = BMI × Height(m) × Height(m)
For Example (Metric System – Kg and Meters)
Height = 1.70 m
Target BMI = 22
Weight = 22 × (1.70)2 = 63.5 Kg
Imperial System (lbs and inches)
Weight (lbs) = BMI × (Height (in))2÷703
For Example:
Height = 67 inches (5’7″)
Target BMI = 22
Weight (lbs) = 22 × 67 × 67÷ 703 = 140.5 lb
